GoDaddy's pricing page will not talk to a script, so I read the Internet Archive's copy

GoDaddy has been off this site since the start because every automated request gets an Access Denied page. Two archive captures a day apart agree on every plan card, so GoDaddy is now the 27th host, with the capture as the source.

GoDaddy is the biggest name in the category, and until today it was not on this site. The reason is boring. Its pricing page sits behind Akamai's bot protection, and every automated request I have ever sent it, from a plain fetch to a full headless browser on a US server, gets the same 312-byte page back: Access Denied. No prices, no cards, nothing to read.

I had numbers for GoDaddy from a third-party guide published in January: Economy renewing at $11.99, Deluxe at $15.99. I never published them. The rule here is that a price goes on the site only if it was seen on the vendor's own page, from the United States, on a stated date. A guide is not that.

The archive gets in

The Internet Archive's crawler is allowed where mine is not. Its index shows eight captures of GoDaddy's web hosting page over 25 and 26 August. I read two of them, twenty-one hours apart. They agree on every card:

PlanIntro, first 3-year termRegular priceCard text
Economy$5.99/mo$11.99/moSave 50% $11.99 $5.99 /mo For first 3-yr term
Deluxe$7.99/mo$16.99/moSave 52% $16.99 $7.99 /mo For first 3-yr term
Ultimate$12.99/mo$21.99/moSave 40% $21.99 $12.99 /mo For first 3-yr term

Two things to be careful about. First, GoDaddy's card never uses the word "renews". It prints the regular price struck through next to the intro price and says the intro is for the first three-year term. That the regular price is what you pay afterwards is the ordinary reading of a struck-through price, and the January guide reported the same $11.99 as Economy's renewal, so I am comfortable treating it as disclosed on the page. Second, the card says "Free domain*" and "30-day, money-back guarantee". The money-back window I recorded. The domain's term is in a collapsed disclaimer that the capture does not spell out, so the fine print table says "not stated" rather than guessing twelve months.

Deluxe is $16.99 in the captures, not the $15.99 the guide had. I have not logged that as a price increase, because I never saw $15.99 on the page myself; a hike on this site needs two of our own observations. The guide's number is simply superseded.

What GoDaddy looks like on the tables

Economy at $5.99 for 36 months prepaid comes to $215.64 for the first three years, then $11.99 a month. That is a jump of 100%, which is close to the median for the hosts I track. Because the regular price is printed on the page, the Index halves the cliff points; GoDaddy scores 10.9, a clean record. It is not on the honor roll, which requires a jump of 25% or less.

The GoDaddy page says plainly that its numbers come from the archive's copy, and the source link on it is the capture itself, which anyone can open. Each morning the check confirms the stored prices against the archive's newest capture and reports that separately from a check of the live page; this morning's read: "4 price strings confirmed in the Internet Archive capture of 2026-08-26".

The figures in this post are what the pages said on the dates given. The tables linked from it are re-read every morning and may have moved since; the changes log has every move with a date and a receipt.
