These two are not the same purchase. Bluehost's $143.64 buys 36 months, DreamHost's $95.52 buys 48. Per month over what each actually covers, DreamHost is $2.00 less: $3.99 against $1.99. The cheaper figure comes with a 48-month commitment on DreamHost, paid up front.
Each total is the cheapest purchasable way to cover the period: the longest intro term upfront, then the stated renewal price for the months after it. † marks a total that buys a full term longer than the period, so it covers more months than the row says and you keep them.
