Before you renew
A renewal is a purchase you did not click. The week before it, seven checks take about twenty minutes and use only pages on this site. Skip them and the renewal price stands for as long as you stay.
Seven days out
- Confirm the date. Put your host, plan and purchase date into the renewal calendar. It gives the day the intro term ends and a reminder file. If your order email says a different date, the order email wins.
- Read the renewal sentence. Every host page quotes the exact sentence where the vendor states the renewal price, with the date I last saw it. Find yours from the renewal price table. If the sentence has changed since you bought, the changes page says when.
- Look at what new customers pay today. The intro price on the pricing page is the price the vendor is willing to accept for the same plan from a stranger. That number is your negotiating floor.
- Price the alternative. The cheapest at renewal ranking lists hosts by what they charge after the intro term, and the true cost calculator totals any period you pick. Most hosts move a site for free; the cost of switching is usually an afternoon.
- Send one of the three emails. The negotiation templates cover the price match, the cancel-to-retention conversation, and the multi-year ask. Send it five days out; retention teams answer within two.
- Decide, then act on the day. Renew at a negotiated price, renew at the stated price, or move. Whatever you choose, turn off automatic renewal if you are leaving; the charge lands on the date, not after it.
- Set the next reminder. The calendar file from step one already contains it. If you would rather be told when the price itself moves, the alert list below sends one short email when a tracked price changes.
Email tools follow the same routine
Email marketing tools rarely have an intro term, but they have a subscriber count, and crossing a band edge changes the bill on the next invoice. The email tool calculator shows the edge you are closest to and the price on the other side of it. Cleaning inactive subscribers before the invoice date is the email equivalent of negotiating a renewal.
What this page does not do
It does not tell you which host is best. It tells you what each one costs after the first term, with the sentence that proves it, and gives you the two or three things worth doing before the charge. The rest is your call.
